we asked for direction to a local and then he suggested to take the boat ride from wat muang kae pier. it's a smaller pier so normally the rate is cheaper. took a tuk-tuk ride to there. empat-empat orang sekali naik satu tuk-tuk..
we were the only one in the boat. besar jugak sungai chao proya yang tidak lah berapa bersih. kemudian masuk ke perkampungan air . the old city of bangkok. rumah-rumah di tepi sungai dan tiang letrik didalam air. macam banjir pulak. wat sai floating market is located here but it's opened early in the morning around 630am.
we stopped at thonburi snake farm for a snake show. selain bermain dengan ular, ada tunjuk macamana bisa ular tedung diambil. dan baru aku tau gigi ular sawa ada banyak rupanya. ada jugak zoo mini kat sini.
we continued to enjoy the view of bangkok city from the river. finally the boat stopped at tha tien pier. kena bayar cukai mendarat pulak kat sini.
walked to the grand palace from here. it's already noon and really hot. jauh pulak tu nak menapak ke visechaisri gate, the main entrance. established in 1782, the grand palace complex houses not only the royal residences and thrones but also the government offices, shrines and the renowned temple of the emerald buddha. it covers an area of 218,000 square meters and surrounded by 1900 metres long wall.
located on the upper terace is phra siratana chedi which is completely covered in gold. rasa nak kikis je bawak balik. another main monument found here is the the miniature of angkor wat.
there are several throne halls inside the complex. some of the halls have been turn into galleries. i particularly like the nicely trimmed lawn in front of chakri maha prasat hall.
from here, we took a cab to siam paragon. sempat melelapkan mata kejap. the traffic was extremely bad. kelaparan sebab tak sarapan pagi tadi. lega sangat bila dah sampai. went straight to foodhall for lunch.
next destination is jim thompson house museum. it's only one station away from bts siam station but we were too lazy to walk in the hot weather. rasa sejuk dan nyaman aje bila duduk bersantai di laman rumah jim thompson sementara menunggu giliran untuk lawatan. beautiful garden. ikan pari tu pun masih hidup lagi..
we visited the art center after the house tour. an art exhibition entitled into an empty sky by xawery wolski a was going on there. the piece i like most is the moon cathedral. brilliant.
amai was checking-in when we arrived back at lub d. amai was actually on working trip to bangkok so we asked him to extend the trip and join us over the weekend. rehat dan borak-borak dulu kat bilik lepas penat berjalan sehari suntuk.
went out again later that evening. naik tuk-tuk lagi mencelah dalam trafik yang sesak teruk tu. kali ni, lima-lima sekali naik satu tuk-tuk. tersepit. we had dinner at bug&bee. memang suka makan kat sini. dan sekali lagi, zaidi hampir-hampir mengulang kisah lama nasi goreng..
balik kat lub d, lepak-lepak dulu kat kakilima depan hostel ni. had a chat with jen, an american who is on a month break. she just arrived bangkok today and is going down south to beaches and islands in the next few days. wish i could do that..
